- A Thousand Words
I’ve done a lot of flying in my life. More lately than ever before, although travelling around Southwest Asia in military airlift is a whole new experience from commercial air travel! I’ll never complain about airline delays again! It’s still better than showing up 3 hours early for a flight that may or may not show up!
Still, I love to fly. Something about being above the world looking down has always appealed to me. I’m like a kid on an airplane, trying to look out the window and watch the world get smaller when we ascend, and bigger when we descend. Now, in my older age, I’m very conflicted when it comes to picking seat assignments. I want the aisle so I’m not crammed in or crawling over people, but when we’re taking off and landing, I want to see out the window!
In my current 4-month job, I have the opportunity to travel by air a lot. So far, I’ve only done C-17s and C-130s, but in the next few weeks, I’ll get to travel on a Sherpa (Army C-23) and am still holding on to the hope of a helo ride before I go!
One of the items on my list of things to do before I die is to get a private pilot’s license. For me, that would be an ultimate achievement. Hey, I’m still (relatively) young. It could happen!

Well, I finally got all the backlogged pictures up. My apologies if it looks bad. Basically I just did some quick auto-tweaking and uploaded everything. If you want more information about any of them (as long as you don’t get me in trouble!) or (family and close friends) if you want the full, hi-res originals, let me know!

- Cleaning house…lots of dust here! #
- So far today I’ve cleaned my room, dropped off laundry, gone shopping, got a haircut. How’s YOUR day been! (being 9 hours ahead helps!) #
- Three sided is a solid triangle shape – your name in English, Arabic and Egyptian. The spinning one has a ring around it and spins #
- Uploading gallery software to my website. Hopefully should have some of the pics I’ve been saving up soon! #
- dunno..there’s an Iraqi gift shop…have some neat leather wall hangings…maps of Iraq, etc. I’m wearing an Iraqi shoulder holster #
