Things I learned while running today

As I completed my first long run of marathon training I realized that running is not only healthy, it’s educational!

Here’s what I learned this morning:
* My neighborhood has a lot of hills! That’s a big reason for the slower pace. I swear those weren’t there before!
* When you get a new smartphone, check the settings on your apps. I looked at my running app and thought I was really improving fast – that first 1.4 miles was a lot easier! Then I realized that it defaulted to kilometers! Oops!
* I need a CamelBack. My little water bottle ran out at mile 5.
* And finally I found out that even though it’s painful and long, the end of a successful run, no matter how short or long, feels GREAT!
